Welcome to Teacher with a TEA!

It has been a long time coming, but I am thrilled to finally be joining the blogging community!  This is a venture that I have wanted to pursue for quite a while now.  As an educator, I have found inspiration, encouragement, and support from other teachers who are interested in making a difference each day in the classroom, and I feel that this blog is an opportunity for me to connect with so many amazing people.

One of my main goals, and the reason behind this blog, is to share experiences in the classroom and learn from those who share a passion for education. I have reached the half-way point of my first year in the classroom and I can say, without a doubt, that the most beneficial tips, strategies, and resources have come from many of you.  I love to read and there is an endless supply of material focused on research-based strategies, but nothing can replace experience.

I also hope this blog is an opportunity for me to develop as a teacher and encourages me to continue to learn.  Writing opens up the doors for reflection and I feel that this process will lead to insight into my own teaching.  I have grown fond of the concept of reflection, and I want to hold myself accountable in the same way that I encourage accountability in my students.

So, here we go!  I am looking forward to this new journey and I am excited to be a part of an amazing group of educators that are so willing to share.  I admit that I am a rookie, and I will probably make some rookie mistakes!  The important thing is that I learn from them (have you ever said that in the classroom?).  Hopefully, as I learn, I will have some pearls of wisdom to share with you, just as you have so graciously shared with me!

... and, yes, I do LOVE TEA!
